Building on the pioneering Insight, Honda gives us the Honda Civic IMA. Powered by a 89 bhp 1.3 litre i-DSi petrol engine and a 50kw electric motor the Civic offers average performance but exceptional economy - 61.4 MPG and 109 g/km emissions.

With a CVT gearbox keeping things running at optimum efficiency the Civic can go 720 miles between re-fills which is an amazing achievement.
